Golden Potato Pancakes

Crisp on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, these traditional German potato pancakes deliver a satisfying, mouthwatering pleasure in every bite!

INGREDIENTS

• 4 medium potatoes, peeled

• 1 small onion

• 1 egg

• 2-3 tbsp flour

• Salt and pepper, to taste

• A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

• Oil for frying

 

Method

1. Grate potatoes and onion. Squeeze out excess moisture with a clean towel or cheesecloth.

2. In a bowl, mix grated potatoes and onion with egg, flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

4. Spoon the mixture into the hot oil, flattening slightly to form pancakes. Fry for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

5. Drain on paper towels. Enjoy as is, or serve with sour cream or sweet applesauce for added comfort and flavour!
